Counselling for Overwhelmed Mothers
RECONNECT WITH YOURSELF AND FIND JOY IN YOUR MOTHERING JOURNEY
You love being a mum, yet you often feel overwhelmed and miss parts of your ‘old’ self.
You might find yourself thinking…
Everything seems to revolve around everyone else.
I feel so disconnected from myself.
I’m not even sure that I know what I want anymore.
I find myself overthinking decisions.
Even though I try so hard to parent consciously, I often find myself snapping at my kids / partner and then feeling guilty.
My life looks good from the outside. I know I have so much to be grateful for. So why do I still feel lost?
If this feels familiar, you're not failing.
Motherhood can ask so much of you. Your attention, energy and emotional capacity can become focused on everyone else, leaving little space to hear your own needs, wants and desires. Over time, it's easy to lose touch with yourself.
Through counselling, I create a space that is just for you. A non-pathologising space to slow down, feel supported and make sense of what you're experiencing.
Hi, I’m Dr Lauren Poole.
I’m a PACFA Certified Registered Counsellor with a PhD in maternal mental health and a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I focus on supporting women’s emotional wellbeing through motherhood. I am also a mother of two, raising a family away from my ‘village.’
Mothers spend so much of their lives holding things together for everyone else, often without having a place where they too can be heard, supported and held. I believe that when a mother is emotionally supported, her whole family benefits.
You don't need to arrive with everything figured out. Counselling offers you time and space to slow down, reflect and be heard — without judgement or pressure to have the “right” answers.
Together, we'll make space for your experience, gently explore what's underneath it, and consider what might help you feel more connected to yourself and the life you want to live.
